The Uí Bhriain (O’Briens) of Thomond and the Gaelic Recovery of the late Middle Ages

By the year 1300, English power in Ireland looked to be unshakable, yet by 1400 the Gaelic Irish had made a dramatic comeback.
This talk examines how economic, social and political shifts allowed the O’Briens, descendants of Brian Boru, to throw off the yoke of English lordship and reshape Irish politics during the fourteenth century.
